In my opinion, the main benefit of Dynamics 365 Unified Service Desk (USD) is the possibility of opening multiple tabs simultaneously, which enables the customer service representative to log more information regarding the case without the need to switch screens. However, USD is not easy to configure USD, and it requires a special installation, which is why it is not widely used.

Nevertheless, using the “Form Component Control” allows us using the Dynamics 365 Web Interface to edit the case’s account and contact directly from the same case form, enabling us to have a similar USD’s tabs experience within the web interface. It is important to mention that USD has many other great capabilities that are hard to be replaced. Also, in many cases, USD is necessary for specific clients.

Form Component Control

The new form control is applied on a Look-up field, such as accounts or contacts which can be placed on an entire tab.
