Microsoft is continuously enhancing and improving Dynamics 365 Marketing, and the 2021 release wave 1 came out last April. Read more about the latest marketing release. This post will discuss how to install and enable preview features.
The new features are not out for public use immediately after it is released. These features go through a releasing process to be fully available to all users. The releasing process has the following three steps to be entirely released.
- Public preview
- Early access
- General availblity
To test those features while still publicly available, we require to intall the new features to enable it.
Dynamics 365 Marketing settings
To enable the new Dynamics 365 Marketing features, from the marketing settings page and from the overview section, click on the versions.

From the preview features section, we can install and enable the Enable Dynamics 365 Marketing preview features.
Preview features are not for production
Before installing, an acknowledgement will be stating that “By installing this preview package, you acknowledge that these features are in preview and not intended for production usage.”
Hence, we should not yet use the preview features in production until it is release in general availablity.
Please note the once installed, we will not be able to uninstall the preview features.
Install Dynamics 365 Marketing preview features
Now, we can click install and the installation will start. Again this action is not reversable and not advised to be used in production.
Installation of the Dynamics 365 Marketing preview features will start and will take time to be completed. We can close the browser window and the update will be completed even after the browser window is closed.
Enable environment update
Finally, we have to enable the update on the environment from https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/. Select the desired environment and check if the update is set to “On”. if it is not set to “On”, we have to enable it.
