LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets

LinkedIn Sales Navigator widget

Sales team require insights about their clients and potential customers, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets can provide such information to help the sales process. LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets are added for contacts and accounts to show a LinkedIn profile or company information within Dynamics 365.

Integrating LinkedIn Sales Navigator with Dynamics 365 requires a Sales Navigator subscription. Either Team or Enterprise subscription is required; read more about Sales Navigator plans.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets types

Two types of widgets can be included in Dynamics 365.

LinkedIn Member widget

The LinkedIn member widget is linked to the contact table in Dynamics 365. The widget includes general information about the LinkedIn user, such as the address, position, education and a link to view the LinkedIn profile in Sales Navigator.

Additional tabs beside the profile tab that can be configured to help the sales team reach out to the person using LinkedIn information are the following tabs:

  • Icebreakers – shared connections and latest news
  • Get introduced – shared connections
  • Related leads – can be saved as leads in Sales Navigator

LinkedIn Account widget

The LinkedIn Account widget is linked to the account table in Dynamics 365. The widget includes general information about the LinkedIn company, such as the number of employees, the address and a link to view the LinkedIn profile in Sales Navigator.

Additional tabs beside the profile tab that can be configured to help the sales team reach out to the company using LinkedIn information are the following tabs:

  • Connections – contacts who work for the company and in connection with Dynamics 365 Sales user.
  • Recommended leads – leads can be saved in LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • News – Related latest news on LinkedIn
LinkedIn Account widget

LinkedIn InMail widget

The LinkedIn InMail widget enables users to reach out to LinkedIn members using InMails. To read more about LinkedIn InMails, please check the link about how to sync InMails with Dynamics 365 activities.

LinkedIn InMails can be sent directly from Dynamics 365 widget, and it will show the history of communications with the contacts.

By default, a tab for the LinkedIn Sales Navigator widget will be added to the account, contact and opportunity primary forms once the LinkedIn Sales Navigator is configured.

From the example above, a LinkedIn Sales Navigator tab is added with three LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets from the main contact form. The widgets above are, as explained above, a member profile, an Account profile and a LinkedIn InMail. Similar LinkedIn Sales Navigator tabs will be added to the account and opportunity primary forms.

Customizing the widget tab

We can customise the LinkedIn Sales Navigator tab in any of the three primary forms (account, contact or opportunity).

The primary contact form above has three fields that use LinkedIn controls to show LinkedIn data.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator widgets are not limited to the three tabs mentioned above; we can include any of the widgets in any other table forms.

Adding a LinkedIn Sales Navigator widget, as shown above, can be done by using custom LinkedIn controls. A detailed description is below.

Adding LinkedIn Member and InMail widgets

Adding LinkedIn Member and InMail widgets uses the same set fields and LinkedIn custom controls to add the widgets on the forms. However, each requires different settings.

On a contact table form

We will use the “Last name” field to add a member widget. Then we configure the custom control.

After adding the “Last Name” field, we will click on the field properties.

Then, we add control and search for “LinkedIn Sales Navigator Lead (Member profile)” from the control properties”.

On a non-contact table forms

We will use a “Contact Lookup” field to add a member widget. Then we configure the custom control—for example, the “Primary Contact” on the account table.

Then, we add control and search for “LinkedIn Lead” from the control properties.

Configuring LinkedIn Member and InMail widgets

As both LinkedIn Member and InMail widgets use the same field type, they are different in how both are configured.

When configuring the LinkedIn Member widget, enable all the tabs as below. In contrast, when the tabs are disabled, the widget will turn to a LinkedIn InMail widget, as shown below.

Adding LinkedIn Account widget

Adding LinkedIn Account widgets uses LinkedIn custom controls to add the LinkedIn Sales Navigator widget on the forms.

On a Account table form

To add an Account widget, we will use the “Account Name” field. Then we configure the custom control.

After adding the “Account Name” field, we will click on the field properties.

Then, we add control and search for “LinkedIn Sales Navigator Account (company Profile)” from the control properties.

On a non-Account table forms

We will use an “Account Lookup” field to add a member widget. Then we configure the custom control—for example, the “Primary Contact” on the account table.
